Aquatic Therapy

Cape Cod Rehabilitation utilizes our own pool located inside our Hyannis office. The new pool at Cape Cod Rehab is approximately 36 feet in length, 20 feet wide in the shallow end and 26 feet wide in the deep end. The depth is 3’8” at the shallow end with a gradual slope to 72" in the deep end. Entrance to the pool is by steps with railings into the shallow end. There is also a chair-lift for those who cannot perform stairs.
There is a 2 seat “swim out” spa section with Jacuzzi jets that is activated by a timer with adjustable controls for the whirlpool jets. The pool is maintained between 86 and 90 degrees and is filtered by a triple sanitization process using Ozone, Ultraviolet and Bromine. There is no use of Chlorine.
Patients are given a buoyancy belt to assist in achieving the proper level of flotation while in the deep end. There are also a number of shallow water exercises that are performed without the belt. In addition, Cape Cod Rehab has various other pieces of equipment to meet your specific rehab goals and needs. This includes such things as the winged water walkers, Styrofoam barbells, strip board, and resistance tubing.
The aquatic therapy sessions are run under the direction of a physical therapist. Each patient will receive a water therapy program designed to meet their specific limitations and functional goals. All patients are evaluated on land prior to their first water session.
